Not all liquor is.
Wine, (especially some reds)for example contains antioxidants and has been proven to be of medical benefit if taken moderately.
Guinness and other stouts contain high contents of iron and are a recommended supplement for pregnant mothers vulnerable to anemia.
Brandy has been given to accident and hypothermia victims in order to improve circulation and restore heart rhythm and as an antidote to shock.
Liquor is bad for your health if taken irresponsibly and excessively where in extreme cases it is the number one cause of cirrhosis of the liver. It has also been linked with higher incidence of some cancers and heart disease.
But your question needs to be qualified since moderation never killed anyone

Alcohol is generally thought of as a stimulant, making people talkative, aggressive, and uninhibited. In truth, however, it depresses the activity of the nervous system, and acts as an anesthetic. In extreme cases, depression of the respiratory center of the brain can be lethal.
People drink for many different reasons. In small amounts and for short periods of time, alcohol relieves tension, encourages a sense of well-being, and is unlikely to be harmful. However, some people mistakenly use alcohol to relieve major problems. This not only leads to alcohol tolerance so that larger and larger doses of it are needed but, unfortunately, also tends to exacerbate the problems. In large doses, alcohol can cause chronic depression, misery, and self doubt, as well as many physical ailments, ranging from malnutrition to cirrhosis of the liver.
The amount of alcohol in the bloodstream, the blood alcohol level(BAL), determines how people behave after drinking. It is also the measure that the police use when deciding whether people should be charged with drunken driving.

Good luck!..._;-)

It's not bad for your health, overconsumption is....which is what Americans specialize in.... The Mediterranean diet (which pertains to people living primarily in Italy, France, Greece, etc.), includes a moderate intake of alcoholic beverages (2 glasses of wine per day for example). People who abide by a healthy diet which includes moderate consumption of alcohol, are healthier than those who don't drink at all or those who consume too much. Red Wine has an element which keeps the heart healthy through better circulation, and drinking moderately helps alleviate stress...the number one killer. Once again, foreign word for Americans...moderation.

because alcohol is considered toxic in the body. It interferes with a lot of metabolic processes in the body, an example would be the fat metabolism. Instead of metabolizing the fat as it should, the liver prioritize metabolizing the alcohol. and if this is the case, you'll end up having a poor liver and inefficient metabolism of fat.
