Depends on the family. It can make all the children more tolerant and compassionate towards the plight of others when they grow up in a family where one family member has a developmental disability. A child with developmental disabilities can be a challenge, but also a resource for learning how to overcome much and shows their siblings that not all people are the same, or even need to be the same.

It usually does not cause a problem because the siblings have learnt to accept their Brother Sister with their problems and often assist with them

We have a son who is and his older sister understands better than most adults about dealing with him. Although it is a strain but she does very well with him because we've talked to her about his special needs.
