There is a drug that I require that is only available via private prescription in the UK. However, is it ok to buy the drug online and have it imported? I read somewhere that it's not an issue to have medications imported into the UK so long as they are for personal use? Is that correct?

It is both illegal and dangerous. Firstly you can never be quite sue what you get, more than half the Valium and Viagra sold on line is bogus. Secondly most drugs that require a doctors prescription should also have medical supervision while the patient is taking them.

Under US law, it is illegal for a doctor to write you a prescription without actually examining you. Any action take with the intent of obtaining an illegal prescription is also illegal. Actually buying on-line with a legal prescription may be legal, but I don't know how you could actually do it.

There are no controls on the quality of the drugs that are available on-line, so be very careful. As for the legality, I cant see how they can be legal.

I am pretty sure it is illegal, and would be a very risky thing to do for your health as you can not be sure of their origins or quality, often this sort of thing arrives and is out of date and useless.

I think they'll require a prescription by fax. Definitely in the US they'll not just post it to you.
