What will you do, knowing that the heat down there is too hot an d consuming, and you experinece a thirst so great you scream for water, but there is none, and what would you do if you found out demons really did exist(fallen angels) and they were rippin fleash on your body and pearcing you with their spears, and the place is so putrid you throw up and vomint at the stench. What will you do?I am talking hypathetically here ok? You have not died and come back so you have no idea what is on th other side of the grave, as it is only speculation from you, but just say you woke up to find out it is all true, what will you do? You will then believe in Jesus, but it will be too late for you. Why take that chance atheists? Do you really want to risk it? I wouldn't, as I would not want myself to go through that torment, the torment is beyond anything you can imagine. Lots of people have been there and come back to report to horrors and are now pastors and evanglists..

And what they experienced was too horrible to mention on here, that is why it is called hell. I know you probally do not believe in Jesus but why not keep your options open, and what if he does exist? All these question about hell are hypathetical ones. Just answer hypathetically.

You have successfully boxed in the answer so that there could basically be only one kind of response. Of far more interest however is the question, "What will you do on the day you realize that these beliefs of yours are all fairy tales, spread by religious bodies whose main purpose is profit rather than salvation, particularly your televangelists. Remember Baker, Swaggart, etc.? The local Evangelical preacher here has amassed a 15 million dollar building, is president of the corporation that owns all the assets, has a degree in business and accounting, his father in law is the Chief Financial Officer of the corporation, and his mother in law is principal of the school his corporation runs. This same preacher, during a baptism, thanked God for his in ground pool, rather than mentioning anything about the rite of baptism. The biblical analogy of sheep is certainly appropriate here as the flock gets fleeced at least three times a week.

Do you have any proof of these atheists turn pastors and
evangelists? There must be, as you say "lots", but surprisingly there are no articles in the paper to substantiate this except for those whose heartbeats stop for a while and beat again. The presence of demons or beings do not proof that Christianity is the right religion. What if you yourself, find out on your deathbed that, what you belief all your life was wrong and you are going to hell, then it will be too late. I suggest you read your bible page by page. If you can comprehend everything and found no errors or contradictions, then I think you are safe. REMEMBER the bible are supposed to be from god and thus should not contain errors or doubts. Seek the truth yourself, Don't depend on your preacher. The bible is for everyone to read and understand and not for preachers only.

If God wasn't willing to forgive me for making a mistake just by using this wonderful intellect he endowed me with to conclude (erroneously) that he didn't exist, then I'd be satisfied that he wasn't a loving God, but a sadist.
If God wasn't willing to forgive me, then he is less compassionate than most humans and therefore not worth spending eternity with. Humans don't even sentence most criminals like rapists to life in prison, but God punishes you for all eternity just for the mistake of nonbelief even though you honestly tried to decide the issue correctly after giving it earnest thought?
No thank you, I don't care to spend eternity around a douchebag like that.
And I'm not gonna do the "oh okay I'll believe cuz it doesn't cost me anything if I'm wrong anyway" thing, sorry. If God really IS the "all that and a bucket of chicken" thing that you Christians say he is, then he'll see right through that charade on my part anyway.

Well, "hypothetically" speaking of course... if I were hypothetically an athiest, and your hypothetical scenario came to pass... hypothetically, there would be nothing I could do. I mean, come on, what kind of answer did you expect? You leave no room for argument. Now, let's think hypothetically here. Let's say there is this person, and this person has certain beliefs... and this hypothetical person goes to Yahoo! Answers and poses a hypothetical question in which said person more or less tells those whose spiritual beliefs may differ from his that they will burn in this hypothetical place for eternity because they did not accept his hypothetical faith... how do you think this hypothetical person would be received? What kind of answers should this hypothetical person expect to see? Does this hypothetical person actually believe, hypothetically, that his hypothetical question is going to convert any nonbelievers to his hypothetical religion? Come on, give me an honest answer. Remember, this is just HYPOTHETICALLY speaking. I'm not saying that this could, would, or did really happen. I just want you to imagine that this did happen, and tell me how you think people might hypothetically react.

Only a very simple-minded person could believe that an innocent person would be punished throughout eternity simply for doubting the veracity of a few stories written by primitive writers in the distant past.
Don't you see that any god that would punish in this manner, would not only be a horrible god; but he would not even qualify as a decent human being?

Oh please.
What would you do if you found found out that the
REAL god of the afterworld was Pluto, you crossed
the river Styx to get there and Zeus was firing
lightning bolts at everyone.
Why is this any less probable of a scenario?
I am an agnostic, not an atheist, but you believe what
you believe - not on the basis of risk mitigation.

I would say that if you belive in hell then you had better get used to it! Why ?? Because in that LONG question, you went on and on about how bad it is and that you wouldent risk putting yourself there, but you forgot one thing, you wont avoid hell by going to church just to get something back! You never once mentioned that you believe in god, and are following him because you love him, you just say you obey to avoid hell! You come across as a very self absorbed person, and vanity is a sin is it not? Opps! thats 1 commandment broken! If i were you i would put as much effort into becoming a nicer person, than you are, as you did describing a place you have never been to! And i KNOW you are not a nice person because you posted that question just to critisise another person, shouldent you love your fellow man, and your enemys? i thought that was a commandment too! Opps! thats number two out of ten broken! You are two steps closer to that place you are so scared of! They say pride goeth before a fall.......its a long way down to that pitt of yours!!ENJOY THE RIDE!!!

A Lord owned a large beautifull land, which had many people living on it whom He loved. One day, the Lord decides to take a journey away from his land. He leaves no body in charge , because every body on the land are his children, both daughters and sons. As time goes by, some of the people begin to lose faith and fear, so much in fact, that they begin to believe that if they do not do certain things, they will be punished when there Father, the Lord, returns.
They give themselves the title of Leader, and begin to preach to others in the land, there belief s, and warn everyone that if they do not do as the Leader says , then there Father, the Lord, shall punish them when He returns.
Some begin to follow the Leader, and others decide not to, for they know How much there Father, the Lord truely loves them.
Yet the Leader and his followers, decide to banish those whom do not follow him, and throw others out of the land.
One day, the Lord of the land, there Father, finally Returns. And when He does, He notices that many of his children were not there.
Asking around , He finds out what happened, and therefore, brings forth to Him, the leader and all the leaders followers.
And the Lord, there Father, asks them ," You sent forth some of my children from there Home here in my land . Why did you do this?"
The leader and his followers answered," We did this for You, showing our love to you we did so in your name too , to cleanse your land my lord father."
With this, the Lord, Father got Very angery, " You did NOTHING for ME ! You have sent forth MY CHILDREN into Darkness and what s worse is You did so In my NAME !! For this YOU shall recieve the SAME punishment you gave those you judged."
And with that said, He banished the leader and all his followers , and threw them out of his land into darkness

*yawn* Good Sunday morning to you, too.
Why should you even care? Isn't that our problem?
BTW, the so-called "near death experiences" are nothing more than the physical manifestations of cerebral hypoxia, and have no basis in terrestrial reality. People losing oxygen to the brain see all sorts of things; needless to say, all of that old religious guilt will bring up monstrous images from the subconscious. It's physiology, not gods. Get over yourself.
People becoming "pastors and evangelists" isn't necessarily a good thing either, since neither contribute anything useful to the human condition.

Pastors and evangelists that say they have been to hell are liars. Not believing in "God" would not submit me to eternity. I'm a far better person than a lot of judgemental, self-righteous Christians that I know.
