I recently went to the doctor for chronic sinusitis. I had a CT scan of my head, but was wondering if that would pick up any other "abnormalities" going on up there; I'm excessively worried that it might be something else. (I have severe anxiety and panic disorders) I guess my biggest fear would probably be a brain tumor; would the CT scan have detected something like that???

CT Scans are used for many things including brain tumours. MRI is also used and each of them pick up some different tissues. Unlike CT Scan, MRI doesn't add radiation to your body cells.

In any case, it is a good idea to discuss with your doctor, your anxiety disorder etc.

A CT scan will detect a brain tumor, but chances that you have one is not likely. The usual symptoms are as follows:

* New onset or change in pattern of headaches
* Headaches that gradually become more frequent and more severe
* Unexplained nausea or vomiting
* Vision problems, such as blurred vision, double vision or loss of peripheral vision
* Gradual loss of sensation or movement in an arm or a leg
* Difficulty with balance
* Speech difficulties
* Confusion in everyday matters
* Personality or behavior changes
* Seizures, especially in someone who doesn't have a history of seizures — as with epilepsy, for example
* Hearing problems
* Hormonal (endocrine) disorders

Chances are you just have an anxiety disorder and that can be treated with medication.
