girlfriend is a friend not lover, love and friendship both are different so why girlfriend word means as a lover to boys.

im a guy and the fact is that in the begining i had a female friend and spending enough time with the other some attractions will come forth.but the friendship conection should never be broken its realy sad when that happens.when a guy refers to a girl as grirlfriend they should mean that they are friends but if there is more they should both use the right choics of words.

Things are changing very fast, there is a cocktail of culture and the thing what you are asking about. There is hardly any difference bet girlfriend and lover left. They share every thing and go step ahead and have physical relation also. These things had led to people committing suicide, unwanted pregnancy, and divorce.
In true sense its the age which brings the maturity and the decision making capability. At youth it all starts with the same mythology and shapes out to be actually a friend or lover.
If you are a Indian, I would like to say that its because of cultural change. Even the friendship is termed and declared as illicit relationship in certain parts of the country.
Its great actually you could get it at early age. Hope your children could get better dealings from your side.

Boys many times feel like girlfriend is lover because they do not think with their head instead what is in their pants!! If thought with their head they would realize any girlfriend worth having at all is already friend!!

A boyfriend could be a platonic chum yet a lover is an emotional relationship if the sensation is mutual. a boyfriend could be a lover yet a lover is definitely the two a boyfriend and a lover on a similar time. in case you love somebody yet he did no longer return the affection ,he's not yet a lover yet a platonic chum

It has a different meaning to me. I have more than 12 girlfriends and I love just one girl. And she is absolutely fine with my girlfriends.
The guys you are talking about are "just-out of-school" kinds. Meet some mature guys. They know the difference.

Obviously all don't have such fair understanding of friendship between opposite sexes. They encourage them to treat friends as lovers.
