I'm planning to go Italy (maybe Rome, Naples, Florence...) and I want to know how much is a budget or mid expenses PER DAY of:

1.)hotel? or hostel?
2.)per meal?
3.)a beer or drinks for a night out?
4.)A Neapolitan Pizza? ('coz I've been dying to try it.)

Thanks.(- -,)

Hostel - about EUR 25 per night in those places in high season

Per Meal - Breakfast EUR 5 (coffee and a pastry is really all Italians eat), lunch EUR 10, dinner EUR 15-20 (these are for "average" sit-down restaurants). Look for restaurants called Brek that are GREAT self-service places where you can get a good meal for less than EUR 10.

Drinks - Varies from place to place. At a neighbourhood bar, EUR 3. At a pub or lounge, EUR 5 ot 6. At an expensive nightclub, up to EUR 9. A lot of nightclubs give you drink cards that you need to exchange for an exit pass. Each time you drink you punch the card and pay before leaving. If you lose the card you have to pay for the equivalent of like, ten drinks, so be careful!

Neopolitan Pizza - GO TO PIZZERIA TRIANON in Naples. This is the BEST pizza in the world (as in, it actually won that award). It's on Via Pietro Colletta and you can walk there from the station. Their best pizza is called Mozzerella DOC. Don't let anyone tell you that any other place is better. Considering that it's The Best Pizza in the World, it's amazingly cheap at like EUR 8 for a whole pizza (for one person).

1st link - Pizzeria Trianon
2nd link - Info for what you can do around Naples and the Amalfi Coast

Ciao. Foreign people say that Italy is expensive. Hotels in Rome and Florence are really expensive, in Naples I don't know. I think that the best thing (if you have the possibility) is to find hotels near the big cities. Maybe you could see and italian map to have an idea and then ask yo Yahoo Italia. : )

Italy is Euro-denominated, so the first shocker comes from the exchange rate: each Euro costs you about $1.30. That means that your 5-Euro pizza actually costs you $6.50

Restaurant prices in Italy may seem a little high, depending on where you are coming from and where you are. Generally, the quality of food and service are higher, so the value is sometimes there despite the higher price. Avoid the tourist traps.

You may have better luck that I did, but the beer offerings were disappointing. In Italy, WINE is king, enjoy it. Local wines are very reasonable, especially by the bottle.

Train travel in Italy is subsidized by the gov't and VERY reasonably priced.
