"Dried currants" bear no relation to the red, white, and black berries of the currant bush that make jelly for the English and creme de cassis for the French. In the context of dried fruits, currants are very small raisins originally imported from Greece, where the name "raisins of Corinth" was corrupted to "currant."
It depends on what you mean. If you mean fresh, then it's small round berries from a bush that have varieties in white, red & black, (ie) blackcurrants as is Ribena.
The dried fruit as used for eyes on a gingerbread man, are a small dried grape. The Black Corinth, is also sun dried to produce Zante currants, mini raisins that are much darker in colour and have a tart, tangy flavour.
The sultana is a type of white, seedless grape.
Raisins are dried grapes.
Hope that helps you!

A Zante currant (Vitis vinifera) is a variety of small, sweet, seedless grape named for the Ionian island Zakynthos. It is usually used for making raisins and, occasionally, wine. When dried, they are often referred to as dried currants and are used in cooking, especially baking. Zante currants are very small and intensely flavoured. They are not usually eaten 'raw' but they are the major ingredient in currant slice and currant cake.

Currants are a small berry that grow on a bush. Often they are dried and used like raisins. They also taste great fresh and make a wonderful jelly.
