Get yourself a bottle of cider vinegar and a tub of Honey--pour two tablespoonfuls in an ordinary mug along with one table spoonful of honey. Top the mug to just under the brim with cold water and drink down. About three to four times a day. You can then use cider vinegar for a multiple of other uses. Great stuff

Take imodium as directed. Keep up fluids - water is best, although could have weak black tea - keep off dairy and fruits. Keep drinking little and often, even if it makes you sick - you can easily become dehydrated. Once you feel like eating and you have stopped having diarrhoea, start with something like a dry piece of toast, a little thin soup, dry biscuit and reintroduce other foods gradually - again little and often - to see how your stomach copes with the food. If this doesn't work and the problem lasts for more than a few days - seek medical assistance from your doctor or pharmacist.

It depends on the cause. Is "sickness" your term for nausea?? If the condition is due to food poisoning, you should not interfere for the first 2-3 days. Just stick to the BRAT diet (Bananas, plain steamed Rice, Applesauce and dry Toast). Drink lots of water. You can treat gastroenteritis the same way with the BRAT diet and water. After 3 days if the symptoms continue, treat the symptoms with Imodium or Pepto-Bismol, continue the BRAT diet and water for another 2 days. If the skin at the anus is irritated, use Calmoseptine skin paste or Calazime skin paste as a skin barrier. Get them at the pharmacy. It the symptoms continue beyond 5 days, see your doctor.

Doc always told me - fluids and nothing else. Rehydration salts for the dehydration it causes, if it lasts longer than a couple of days go to docs, or if the sufferer is very young or very old or already has a long term condition - then docs after 12 or so hours.

The underlying cause of your sickness should be detected and treatment taken. Oral rehydration therapy should be instituted immediately.
Please see the web page for more details on Oral rehydration therapy (ORT).
