The only way to get hd chanells is thro sky ( or telewest if living in the London area).

There are only 8 hd chanels being broadcasted at the moment.

It will be about 10years plus before we can get a decent amount of chanells ie over 40 on hd, as sky will milk it.

With regards to HD tv, you can get blu-ray, hd dvd and upscaling machines to improve the picture, also next gen games consoles will output hd

As far as I know some satellite channels have plans to start HD soon. The point is that they are selling these TVs as HD Ready, which means you will have to buy a small component to be added to your receiver. There are very few full HD TV sets on sale yet. I have decided to wait for prices to go down before buying one.

Yes I totally agree with you. The leader in television technology not just in the UK but worldwide has always been the BBC and until they finalise their HD format anyone buying a HD ready TV now is likely to be disappointed and left with a white elephant they can only play xbox360 games on (another white elephant).
