it depends if you live in a region that has air quality problems, because it sure can be contaimenated if your living around somewhere like Detriot, MI. Just like acid rain.

snow insulates everything underneath like a blanket.. so plants benefit...
its only if its very heavy that you are better to clear
just incase it damages delicate plants with weight... but it would need to be very thick and heavy to do this..

frost is different it can kill plants..
