appendix is the right side..
any persistent pain needs to be checked by a doctor..
could simply be indigestion but don't play a guessing game it isn't worth the risk... best to have him seen by someone who can advise as soon as possible... and that will put your mind at rest.

Could be a number of things but the appendix is definately on the right. Pain below the naval in children is extremely common & usually indicates an underlying infection - so usually, there is another problem going on - sore throat, cough or cold etc. In the abdomen there are many little glands (lymph glands) which can become swollen in the same way as those in the neck, groin, armpits. In children, they commonly complain of tummy aches when they are unwell due to these glands also being swollen.

YES. Although the appendix is on the right, the pain starts on the left. I have no idea why, but it does. Call out a doctor.

Appendix is usually on the right, although I have known people have everything the opposite way round. Does it hurt more if he raises his leg? If so, could be appendix, still a good idea to ring NHS Direct in any case, they are really helpful. You don't want it to turn in to a medical emergency!

Those who said the appendix is on the right are correct, but for some reason with appendicitis the pain often starts on the left.
Our GP gave some good advice for testing for appendicitis...can you hop, on one leg a few times, then on the other? Apparently if you have appendicitis you can't hop the pain is so bad.
You also have a fever, vomiting and/or diarrhoea

it could be an umbilical hernia as the appendix is on the right not left..these are very common in young children and are easily repaired so dont worry...sometimes they can be present since birth but take a while to show.make sure he isnt lifting anything heavy such as heavy toys etc as this could aggrivate it...best to go to the doctor though to see if he can feel the hernia

To me, feels like irritable bowel syndrome. the stable information is that related to the only important issues on the left section are the descending colon, left ureter, and the left ovary. Does it burn once you pee? Are your sessions different? Do you have diarrhea or constipation? you will desire to stay with up with your PCP. He can do a KUB or ultrasound to envision for a kidney stone, a US will additionally seem for a cyst or tumor, a UA to envision for UTI, and in all risk a stool pattern. Or they'd do purely a CT. stable success and God bless.
