My grandma wants to do for dinner. Again. 2 days in a row. I can't stand her. The only reason I delt with her today is I know I'll feel guilty when she's gone... which will be awhile...

The truth will not work. I think she's very cold and it's awkward being around her. I cannot handle two days in a row.

Please, any suggestions will be appreciated!

You can always tell her you are not feeling up to going out ,maybe coming down with the Flu.Say," thank you for the invitation, maybe we will get together for dinner another time in the future".Maybe your grandmother is very lonely and really enjoys your company. You may want to try spending a little more time with her, then give yourself a pat on the back for being such a nice person.Someday you may find yourself a lonely older grandmother trying to make friends with a young grandchild ,before you die. There really is allot to talk about and learn from our elders!

It sounds as though you already said yes, in which case the best you can do is come down with some kind of 24-hour flu. Or tell her you made previous plans that you just remembered. Offer an alternate day some time in a few weeks, so you don't have to feel bad about blowing her off and you have a set date, which will make her feel better.

Why not just call her and say "am sorry at this late time but am unable to go tonight" ......overtime at work wore me out and not good company tonight..if you work.....or too much class work if in college or taking classes has come up to go out now....
or just the first'........I can't go again tonight, but will get back with soon as I can again. end of story, tell her you must get off phone but hope she has a good evening.
Being a grandmother I know young people have a lot going on, plus I do too and 2 nights in a row for me would be too much too.

Well you're right gramma may not always be here, but she's trying to be manipulative I think. Does she not have her own friends? If not she's probably lonely. What about your parents can they pick up some of the slack for you?

Just tell her nicely Gramma I appreciate the invitation, but I have made other plans for today. Let me call you when my schedule isn't so hectic and we'll do dinner again.

How SHE reacts is HER problem , not your's.

Tell them that you completely forgot that you promised to pick someone up from the airport that you had committed to help out. Or say that you have a stomach virus.

WOW.
I go through this with my friend.
That's all she knows is dinner.
I suggest, sometimes, that we play pool or take a brisk walk but no.
I just stopped going. I won't let anyone make me feel guilty about it, either.

Just tell her that your grandma died. That one always works...oh, wait...shoot, never mind.
