I'm gonna put it simply that,
Christianity and Islam plays with fire, we can both barbeque and get barbequed.
Hinduism and Buddhism however, does not play with fire.
So basicly they mind their own business.

You can find people of all religions on both sides of the fence. Some Christians are peaceful, some are violent. Some Muslims are peaceful, some are violent. Same with Buddhists and Hindus. Most people are capable of violence (to some degree) with the right provocation. Most are certainly capable of anger. Worshippers of any religion are still people after all, just as non worshippers. Get enough of them to rally around what they consider the right cause and you end up with crusades and jihads. I'm sure you've realized that religion and politics are two subjects that can really get people fired up. Anyway, you can't judge a religion by it's followers - they're just people.

i always wondered how hinduism and buddhism penetrated South-East Asia even the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. I never heard words of persecution imposed by Hindu traders but could it be the peaceful preaching of these Buddhist and Hindu traders? but in case with Christianity and Islam, present-day countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Philippines and East Timor were either muslim or christian. I heard how the muslim traders persecuted the hindus in indonesia and the catholic spanish conquistadores persecuted the hindus in the philippines. Now, they are already muslims and christians. but still, many people in these countries are superficially muslim or christian. Or so?

It depends. The rapid military expansion of Islam under Mohammad and the caliphs had resulted in the conquest of the Middle East, North Africa, most of Spain and the western Mediterranean Islands, and they were rapidly approaching the Byzantine Empire. The Empire called for help from the Pope, who was tantamount to a ruler in those times. The Pope sent a group of soldiers to defend the Empire against rapid Islamist conquest, and to reclaim land taken off them a while before. That was the start of the Crusades, and without them most of Europe would have been conquered.
I think that most religions have had dark periods in their past, and it's important to learn from our mistakes.

None of the religions are violent and never been violent. Those who haven't understood the true interpretations of these religions have turned violent. They believe that they know the religion better than anyone. When someone react to such insanity, they naturally become a part of violence.

The right picture of lslam is conveyed in the Qur'an, which is exemplified by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. The reality is that it is not fair to judge a religion by the actions of its followers alone because there are good and bad followers in every religion. The correct thing to do is to judge a religion by its documented revelation from God and the prophet who brought that revelation.

Well they originated from different parts of the world, that's why. Plus monotheism does tend to make a religion more violent and hell-bend on converting others.

Christianity and islam have been violent, but I imagine their have been people in hinduism and buddhism that have been violent too. The only peace people will find is in Jesus Christ.
