I was tempted into masturbating can I just pray for forgivness and get it or do I have to go to Confession?

You do not need to go to confession. The Bible says to confess directly to God. Confession is not accepted by God unless you are truly repentant and willing to turn from your sin.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Hi, you really should go to confession if you can and not just say sorry to God, in confession you will receive grace and absolution of this sin,also you will know for sure that you are forgiven, this is not always the feeling you get from just excusing yourself outside confession.
