stupidity & laziness - they want God to do everything for them instead of doing things themselves.

Hence the constant prayers for good marks at school (but they dont study),
a good virgin wife (but they still sleep with every girl they meet - so how can the wife be a virgin?)
good kids (but still abuse them)
and a good life (but complain about working).

I think you mean why do you have faith?
I believe that religion exists because it does - you can see that today.
If you are asking however, why do you believe in God/have faith in God -
Speaking about atheists - you have no reason for existance other than the evolution process (as you evolved from slime) you therefore have no purpose for existance, and life is completely meaningless. You are nothing more than a mixed up jumble of proteins/carbohydrates/lipids etc that just randomly at some point millions of years ago came into existance... and yet you have the ability to reason, think, learn, debate with others, you appreciate taste, smell, sleep, your ability to see, the money you earn etc. What a powerful arguement for intellegent design in and of itself the shear brillance of the human mind.
When the atheist sees no evidence of God, I see abundant evidence in nature, the cosmos, humanity, the existance of morals, the complexity of life, the nature of love and emotion, the good that does happen amoung the bad, the prophetic fulfillments of the bible and historical evidence for its accuracy.
I simply cannot believe in a theory that tells me I evolved over millions if not billions of years from slime - how ridiculous given that no one has ever shown that more complex infomation can be added to DNA, the blueprint for life. So if that is that case, how can anyone possibly suggest that say, an amoeba (a single celled organism, but in an of its self quite complicated) could have added new genetic information over millions of years and gradually changed into more complex organisms that continued this change, when there is not a shred of evidence that this is possible genetically? Wow - you really have to have a lot of faith that this can happen...
Hence, it seems far more probable to me that there was an intellegent creator who designed me with a purpose and reason for existance.
This along with the evidence for Jesus Christ and the personal relationship I can have with Him are amoung the reasons why I believe.

The Qur'an teaches us that the human race is given an innate spirituality are inherent in human existence,
but this spirituality can betray us if it is not led in the right direction. To depend on a merely human
feeling of the guiding Spirit is dangerous. Many groups, even cults, claim to be guided by the spirit or
by God or by revelation, yet these groups hold divergent, even contradictory, beliefs. We find people
behaving in contradictory ways who claim nonetheless that each is doing the will of God. "I feel," they
say, "that the spirit guides and directs me."

A credible source of revelation is imperative. Throughout history Allah has selected particular
individuals to convey His message, to receive His revelation and to exemplify it for mankind

God provides us with the purpose of our existence and if we seek to do good it is the same as seeking to do the will of God. Your belief in God only has value in so far as you live your life according to His purpose for you.

How then do we know what is the will of God? That is where religion comes in. GOD has revealed His will through prophets. To find out what this is you need to study the revelation.

They believe in religion because A) it answers many disturbing questions that otherwise taunt us or B) they've been taught what to think and lost their ability to reason it out or question their faith.

I don't believe in the word itself, I only believe in the essence of the word. The very thing you can not see hear, feel or touch, yet it is still there.

I believe in my FAITH because that is who I am. I am a child of God. God has shown Himself to me and I cannot deny His existence. God shows Himself to everyone, it is you who choose not to see Him. I know God is real. I believe in Him with all my heart, and I hope you do too. I will pray for you, God bless you.
Take care,
Katie
