What should I do if I am going back to my own country for more than 2 months with greencard?

I have a greencard valid until 2014. In the next 10 years, if I have to go back to my country for more than 2 months, what should I do? Can I come back to the U.S. with no problem after 2 or 3 months?

You can go to your home country for 2-3 months. You will need a re-entry permit if you leave the USA for more than 12 months.
" Re-Entry Permit
Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders) use re-entry permits to re-enter the U.S. after travel of one year or more. For LPR’s returning to the U.S., re-entry permits are generally valid for two years from the date of issuance of the re-entry permit. The LPR should apply for this benefit before leaving the U.S."

" Please note that a re-entry permit does not guarantee admission into the U.S. Aliens with re-entry permits are still subject to the inspection process at the port of entry. It is also important to note that travel outside of the U.S for more than one year will under most circumstances break the continuous residence requirement for later naturalization purposes. Travel for over 6 months may break the continuous residence requirement. See Section 316 (b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act."

Well...Do you have a Green Card until 2014 ? If you have to go back have fun , see the family and friends, then come back to the USA.....Just have a good passport and everything you need to come back and expect a lot of questions from the Customs people.........

If you leave for more then a year then you are abandoning your PR status. 2-3 months are OK.

sure you can come back long as you have a passport you should be fine
