Here's the deal, I have an underbite, "monkey mouth" as it was describe. My upper palate is narrow and my bottom jaw is a little pronounced. But since i had my braces taken off after three years my teeth were perfectly straight as can be. Is that good?

I am happy with my new mouth, but should I have had the surgery? I didn't have a good feeling going into it. Do people have underbites?

The under-bite is called an anterior cross-bite, and can be corrected without surgery. If left untreated it will cause premature wearing of the teeth.
If the top jaw is narrower then the bottom, this is called a posterior cross-bite. This can be corrected with a palate expander, No surgery is necessary. Ask your orthodontist. If the Doctor suggests surgery, change doctors.

Most people have overbites but underbites are not uncommon. No I wouldn't suggest surgery. Surgery would be extremely painful - I think they would have to remove bone from your jaw to bring the bottom jaw in alignment with the top jaw.
