No, that's an old wives' tale.

There is no magic weight-loss pill, supplement, fad diet, or juice. The ONLY way to lose weight is to consume less calories than you burn. Brad Pitt didn’t get cut for Fight Club by eating grapefruit, and you won’t either.

Walk for 30 minutes every day, including weekends, Mondays, and Fridays. Do at least 30 minutes of weight training each week. Do 60 minutes of additional, higher intensity cardio each week.

Cut back on the foods you eat with high fat and high sugar content. Eat only single servings (read the label) with less than 3 grams trans fat and 3 grams sugars. Throw out all of your ice cream, chips, cookies, cheese, fried foods, bacon, and candy.

Eat breakfast, and eat five small meals per day instead of three big meals. Don’t starve yourself during the day, but if you don't wake up famished, then you ate too much the day before. Stop eating at least two hours before you go to bed.

Get 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night. Turn off the TV and the computer. Sleep is vitally important.

Don't consume alcohol—alcohol is nothing more than empty calories with no nutritional value. Some people will argue that alcohol has some health benefits when consumed in moderation—I’m not debating that—but we’re talking about weight loss here. Quit whining and lay off the booze if you want to lose the belly.

Drink lots of water, then drink more. Not tea, not Gatorade, not milk. Water.

Good luck.

khairiah,

No, grapefruit is not a "fat burner" or "calorie burner." This myth has been around since at least the 1950s, when the Grapefruit Diet was popular, and it didn't work then. It doesn't work now.

Grapefruit is like any other citrus fruit. It contains many good minerals and of course vitamin C, but there's nothing in it that makes it a good diet food, unless you eat it and not, say, three candy bars, but you can do the same thing with apples or broccoli.

Now, I like grapefruit. I'm used to the tart taste and I eat them without anything else. I like the fiber in the pulp, the juice, everything about them. I just peel, section, and eat. There's no finer fruit, especially if you can get one straight off the tree, as some of my relatives can in California and Arizona. Here in Seattle we're lucky to grow more grass than moss, but the apples and pears are great. But grapefruit is not some magic calorie furnace any more than oranges or nectarines.

What will work best for us is to eat mostly vegetables and fruit. If you cut out fat you can actually eat more and lose weight. That means being a low-fat vegetarian--no cheese (loads of calories because it has loads of fat)--but there are so many great recipes around for vegetarian meals that after three months you won't miss meat, and you'll lose weight.

However, you can eat some meat if you keep it to small portion (the size of a deck of cards) each day. We really don't need as much protein as we commonly think. 10% of our calories in protein (which includes beans and legumes) will keep us healthy, so we don't need big slabs of meat evey day.

Watch your portions, eat in calories ten times the pounds that you want to weigh, eat mostly or all vegetables and beans, and you wil lose weight and feel great.

It doesnt help you burn carbs, but by eating grapefruit you body will actually loose weight not gain any, because it takes up more energy to digest than it actually gives you. It is the same with celery and soy beans

Nope it does not, but it may help you feel full that make you stop eating anything else in huge portion... you should eat it as it is... never juice fruits, without the fiber, fruit will just become simple sugar, which is actually increase you insulin production which might trigger hunger and cravings...

I very much doubt it helps burning calories It actually contains calories but not a lot and because it has lots of vitamin c it is very good for you; just don't eat it with lots of sugar as it is very bitter and definitely an acquired taste. You can eat it but I find the juice easier to swallow ;good for thirst ,but please use a sweetener not sugar....
