Yes. Because of society. A more interesting question would be "are male girls treated differently than female boys".

It has nothing to do with boy or girl. Neither with older or younger. Each family reacts different from one another. Nobody can actually say why they are doing what they are doing they just do it.If the one that's feeling left out not say anything the parents wont realize it and the wont be able to do anything about it.

we want our daughters to be pure and viginal till they are married


and we want our sons to plant them wild oats !
