Walking away from God is not evil, it is a choice. I fear you have made a decision to turn away from eternal salvation in order to have complete control over your own life. God lets you do that. What worries me is your comment "I am my religion." That pretty much flies in the face of the First Commandment: Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Are you worshiping yourself?
The freedom you feel is only temporary. Check back with us in 6 months and let us know how you are doing. The most awesome thing about God is that He is constant. He won't leave you. He'll always be there if you decide to turn back.
By the way, I promise not to try to convert you if you promise not to call me weak minded.
Be blessed and may you find what you are searching for.

I hear you ... I was a born again bible believing Christian for the past 10 years and walked away a year ago. I know Christians feel threatened by this and dispute that I ever was one and are dumbfounded that I'm doing fine. In saying this though, I do think Christianity has alot to offer and don't wish to ridicule it's followers for their beliefs, they just weren't working for me. Sounds like the same applies to you. Peace :-)

nicely, my kin not in any respect quite imposed faith on me yet they have conception in God. although, even as i became about 16 i began studying quite some books about faith and technological information to get both fringe of the argument. because I got here to the best that I not believed in the type of element as God, i trust tremendous. i trust like i have broadened my innovations and that i trust chuffed, inspite of not having all the solutions. i'd not comprehend each little thing, yet faith genuinely would not both inspite of the actual shown actuality that they proceed to evangelise as if they do. i trust at peace with myself, i'm at peace with others and that i'm very accepting of diverse human beings from all walks of existence, which i'm not certain i'd were if i'd retained my beliefs. because I left college (which turned right into a Catholic college) i trust a lot extra liberated also. the instructors in my college were quite strict and weren't welcoming of contradictory reviews on faith, really Catholicism. i'm very, very happy to be out of faculty and faraway from that bulls***. average, i'm very content cloth. i'm grateful that my mum and dad were not pushy about faith and allowed me to discover my personal way and make up my personal innovations, inspite of their personal reviews. i'm only a three hundred and sixty 5 days older than you, and that i too am more than chuffed that I got here to this end at a comfortable age.

It's not evil ... it simply underlines that you didn't have deep convictions to that belief system. You have to go where your heart leads you, as watered down religion or trying to fit into a mold is not true spirituality and would not give you any benefit anyway. God understands this and is infinitely patient. You feel liberated and at peace because you were ready to move on and you did. Just don't ever stop asking questions (dumb or not) and searching for answers ... that is what life is all about.
Peace

You're right about one thing, you're your religion, if you're Christian then you are what you are, but the thing you don't get is that feeling of freedom or peace....that is not real at all, Satan is just working his evil on you. You are being suckered in. A true feeling of peace is accomplished when you know the TRUE feeling of God. You may of not felt this before because you didn't really have any sincerity when accpeting Him into your heart. Or maybe you were just brought up Christian and never really believed in it at all. Christianity is not a man-made religion, It is a faith, it is who I am! I hope you can come to know the feeling of salvation, I will pray for your salvation. Please do not think I am forcing anything on you, I only say this because I love you, and want you to go to Heaven. Please think about it atleast, ask God. I will pray for you, God bless you.
Take care,
Katie

Here is the main fault of the populace they seek religion as a means to inner peace. Never do that! The inner peace is always within you and that is where it always will be no matter what. If I depended upon Islam to give me inner peace, let me tell you that I would be completlely lost. I would be going round and round in circles without a compass to find my way out. Inner peace is only within you.

I always felt closer to God in the great ourdoors.
Perhaps thats what you feel, free from the constraints of "recognised religions."
I dont think its got anything to do with "weakness".
You are on life's road, and it gets bumpy at times.
I think if there is a God, he/she understands all this.
I also know for a fact, that you may leave God, but he/she never leaves you.
I hope you never stop looking and asking questions, regardless of how "dumb" thay may seem.

I agree w/some of the answerers; you are being true to yourself and have found that which is within us all but rare to find.
Doesn't mean God/Goddess doesn't exist; if you believe in a Creator.
It is a Mystery. Welcome to the Mystery.
Religion does not = God. But, is a way for many of us not to worship in isolation if worship in a formal setting is helpful. I find it helpful; but congregations difficult to deal w/because of the hypocrisy.
I stayed (intentionally) away for a month and never felt closer to God; but, then it was time to go back. I am Catholic and I love to participate in the Eucharist. I also love the music when it is good.
I don't like "Church Politics" w/in the individual churches; worst part. And, so often, even my priest agrees: Church isn't where you need to go when you are hurting; he wishes it could be.

I don't go to church either but I do pray to God for help the same way.I just chat with him every now and then to ask questions.
Everone slips and that's why God is there to pick you up again.
That's exactly what you did,but with his help you got back up.
It's not about me excepting you for who you are I'm fine with you.
It's when you're not fine with yourself and you wern't.
This is when God came into play.
True believers in Jesus said to him,"why would you help non-believers when we are the one's that believe in you.
His response was," because it's the non-believers that need the help. Not the believers."
