Yes, personality survives. We will be given perfected bodies in Heaven, and tasks according to our deeds.
There is no sex in Heaven. Being with God is BETTER than sex.

Good Question!
Take for example the PC. Enen though you might have the Motherboard, Processor, the Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse etc you will NOT be able to run it unless you have the OS (Software) into it. Right?
The same holds good for all programming devices, wherein the hardware is controlled by the software.
Same is the case with the human body. It is the MOST complicated machine on earth.
There has never been a heat engine to work at around 37 degree celcius and burn Carbohydrates, fats and proteins into Energy. There has never been a Pump as efficient as the heart consuming at around 1 watt and running for 60 years continuously.
This would ONLY be a lump of flesh if there was NO soul into it.
And thats exactly what is the Software for our bodies.
Now the afterlife.
The first Question - "Should we believe into it?"
Yes. Why?
The answer is simple, without afterlife, life cant be sustained on earth. The earth is full of Odds. Here the powerful wrecks his power on the weaker.
How can the weaker being get justice if there was NO afterlife.
Hitler killed millions. The maximum punishment we could give to him if he was alive, was the death punishment. but that pays ONLY for 1 murder.
ALmighty GOD can and will roast him in Hell for the remaining Killings.
And it is this soul that represents exactly WHAT you are. It represents your faith and your qualities.

I can't answer this from an Islamic standpoint, since I'm a practicing and born-again Christian. I also can't give you the truth, since I'm not dead yet and I don't know anyone who is. I can, however, give you my belief, so here goes:
The book of Revelation doesn't exactly tell us everything about the Kingdom of Heaven. However, it does give some insight about singing and praising God for all eternity. Since an (as you put it) "undifferentiated mass of energy" can't sing, I (as well as most of the rest of humanity) can assume that you will be your own "person"; however, the desires of your temporal earth life will be gone, because you will have a new, all-consuming desire: God. You will want to sing and praise God for the rest of eternity, which I believe you will do (even though I can't sing).
Hope this helped. If not, I'm sorry, and I hope you can find an answer that does.
God bless you.
--Jake
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. -- 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

I'm Christian: I don't truly know the answers to all your questions but I will give them my best shot.
When someone asked Jesus a question about a man who was widowed 7 times, which wife the man would have in heaven, Jesus said there is no marriage in heaven but we shall be like angels. I take that to mean there is no sex or sexual desire.
I suppose we will remember all of our lives on earth, including the bullies from the third grade, but being in God's presence and knowing more than we know now, we would have a better understanding of why bad things like that had to happen. Personally, I would much rather see bullies who picked on me in heaven. I would gladly forgive them considering the joy I would feel just by being there.
Would I miss earthly hobbies? I might tend to think so but I sure the glories of heaven will make anything I did on earth, not as rewarding by comparison. In short, I believe personality does survive the transition. It is only our sinful natures that will be gone.
One more thing. Heaven as we know it, is temporary. At he end of times God will create a new heaven and earth and we all will be resurected. Our resurection bodies will be just like Jesus' resurected body. Visible, real, you could touch it and feel it, yet He could walk through walls.
This is what I believe, based on scripture. The rest,(all that I don't know) remains a mystery that we will all someday find out.

WHEN YOU DIE, YOU ARE DEAD. Eccl 9:5 "The living are conscious that they will die; as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all." Isaiah 26:14 "They are dead, they will not live,. Impotent in death,
they will not rise up."
Gen 3:19: In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return."
Psalm 146:4 "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish."
Eccl 9:6; "Their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun."
And that is why we have the hope of the resurrection, the righteous to a resurrection of life, the unrighteous to a resurrection of judgment. .You will be resurrected as you are, only with a new body, healthy and full of life (pardon the pun). Families separated by death will be reunited, and they will enjoy the blessings of Jehovah God in a new and restored paradise Earth.. Matt 5:5 "Happy are the mild tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth." Psalm 37:11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."
The Book of Revelation chapters 7 and 14 indicates to us who will be in heaven. Saying I am sorry for my sins and you believe in God (e.g. especially at a person's death bed) is not an automatic pass to heaven.

Muslim: personality survives because during the interview with angel in the barzakh (in the grave), the same person answers the question, just like the interview we face in this life. however, any question that we cant answer will be punished immediately. wants and desires will be absent but what God gives us is according to what we are during life. if the person is good (fulfills every good deeds and leave what if forbidden) then God will give he/she a good place just for sleeping because have passed all questions. different to the sinful person, everything wont be thought except pain.
Allah is fair. He wont forget what everyone did and He kept His promise.

answ is yes your personalities will survive. Like a child desires will change as persons begin to use more of their brain. God will keep us very busy and challenged as to we will not be bored.
Further study of the bible you will understand what hell really is, only ones that will go to a spirit are humans chosen by God only. Majority of persons will be on the earth. Sexuality will more than likely decrease because our purpose will at some point stop to populate the earth.

I feel we are all unique now, we will be unique then, but we will be changed. We should be changing to be more like Jesus now on earth.
