Masonic dress codes vary from lodge to lodge and state to state. In my lodge, members are generally expected to wear a suit and tie or jacket. The officers of the lodge are expected to wear a black tuxedo and black bowtie. However, I have been to other lodges where nobody wears a tux and everyone wears a suit. I have been to still others where there is no discernable dress code, where members can even wear jeans. I even visited a lodge in Hawaii where the members wore special shirts that they had made for their lodge.

So there is no exact dress code for Masons, as there is no main governing body that sets this standard. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

Every lodge is different has a group we do not have a dress code.

Most lodges expect you to not wear jeans. I belong to two lodges one lodge expects you to wear a collared shirt and no jeans, My other lodge requires that you own a tux( if you need help they will help you buy it) And you are expected to wear it. I know of a lodge near my house wear most of the members have motorcycles so most people there ride there bikes to the meeting and come there riding clothes.

But I coach my sons baseball team. And times when i have gone straight from practice to the lodge meeting with out changing no one said anything negative to me about it. Funny me and my friend nick are younger members(late 20's earlier 30's) one day we both showed up wear shorts and sandals. People made joking comments to us but everyone was glad to see us.

The actual Masonic teaching on the subject is that it is the internal not the external qualifications that should recommend a person to be made a mason
