It's hard to tell, it's possible, but...

You say your mom didn't inform you about the funeral, but who informed you of your aunt's death? Given those issues with your mother in the past, you might have been better off questioing another relative. Or maybe your mom just knew you could not make it and realized it was somewhat pointless to tell you of the timing.

When I was away at college, my grandmother, who lived with us, died. A day later, I just happened to call...!!! She and I had never liked each other much, but I could not believe they didn't call me right away. I know it was about my parents' self-sufficiency and sparing me more than anything else, but it felt so strange.

my sister lives out of the country so we had troouble telling her the bad news
it took about three days just to tell her about it so she missed the funeral obviously
but we didnt do that on purpose the only reason we did it was because we didnt want to hurt her
maybe your mom found it hard to tell you about it allon the phone shes ur mom i dont think shed do something "EVIL" during a time like this
