The only way to gain weight is to gain muscles, and to do so you have to give to your muscles enough proteins, amino acid if you prefer(protein powder) for them to build some more muscle fibers.
BUT: 1) you have to do A lot of exercise to send to your muscles the message that they have to grow.
2) you must eat enough energy ( "slow"carbohydrates) before the exercise to make sure that muscles are going to use amino acid to build muscular mass instead of using it as a source of energy.
3) Be careful not to eat too much proteins on a too long period because it'll damage your kidneys (the normal protein amount for an adult in good health is 0.8 to 1g per kg per day) and I would not recommend to go a lot further than that (because of the amount of urea it'll make otherwise) without asking your doctor and make sure, with a blood test that your kidneys are in perfectly good shape.

Of course, you should try to get most of your daily protein from regular foods, however, there are a few times of the day where protein shakes would be better then eating a regular food. One of these times is first thing in the morning. Your body has not eaten for the last 8 or so hours while you were sleeping, so a whey protein shake (which is the fastest digesting protein there is) would be the perfect thing to give your body. The same goes for directly after your workout. This is probably the most important time to have a shake. Since you just worked out, your muscles need to rebuild and repair themselves, and this is the most important time to give your body protein, so a shake right now would be a great idea.
Well, you must first make sure that the brand you buy is top quality, because there are tons of low quality powders around. . Trust me, no matter what brand you buy, none taste great. So, you just have to buy the one that tastes "best" .I personally use and like the Strawberry the best.

Well, Nutrilite Protein Powder isn't necessarily any better than the cheap "bucket" you can buy at a GNC. In fact, I'd imagine, with the price of Nutrilite products (unless you're distributing them yourself!), that you'll have to work more and cut out some of your workout schedule in order to continue buying the stuff.
Aside from that, protein powder, in general, helps in weight gain by supplying the muscles with adequate amounts of protein to rebuild themselves after a strenuous workout. The extra protein gained in a powder allow muscles to repair themselves and heal a little quicker than by eating alone, but no workout regimen should have the diet portion replaced with protein powder. Protein powder should be an additional portion of your diet (such as an additive to milk, milkshakes, or water). Likewise, instead of an energy drink, protein drinks can (and should) replace them after working out or before bed.
In short the extra proteins will allow your muscles to grow quicker than without, but only if the protein from the powder isn't used as a replacement for meals or nutrition, but is in addition to a proper weight-gain diet.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

You have to remember that there are different types of protein...
there is Dextrose, Creatine, Carnityne, Tarousine, Tribullus, etc.
the proper amount of these protein make your body grow in mass or weight.
creatine traps water in the muscles making you bigger and bulkyer,
dextrose adds some fat around the edjes ;)
carnitne is a slimming agent, it burns fat
etc.
if you want more advice.... since i am unable to say more... give me an e-mail... i would love to help
so far my answer is creatine and dextrose... + tribullus
you'll gain as if there is no tomorrow
