I worked at a swimming pool and always left my contacts in. I never had a problem, and I was there for two summers. If you're going to be diving a lot, though, you may want to take them out, because I knew someone whos contacts popped out when they hit the water. I never dove, so I don't know about that, but yes, it is safe to swim in them.

It is best if you don´t swim with your contact lenses in because there are bacteria in the water that can adhere to your lenses and cause infections. If you do swim in your contacts, you should wear goggles over them and you should disinfect them immediately afterwards. This will keep your eyes free of infection. If you swim often try prescription swimming goggles. They will allow you to see in and out of water without your contact lenses!

I wouldn't advice wearing contact lenses while swimming -even though there are many who do do this. Your eye healh is very important. There are good swimming googles you can buy with prescription lenses -they are not that expensive.

I agree with neera s answer.

Using contact lenses, involves some amount of risk, since the amount of oxygen available to the cornea is reduced. More details and information at http://eye-care.in/contactlens.html

Yes, you can but you need to wear swimming goggles. Or you can only wear swimming goggles with power (short-sighted or long-sighted).

You sure can- but I recommend wearing goggles- otherwise they might pop out and then you will have a heck of a time finding them!
