They had to die, and each death had meaning. Therefore, Holocaust victims could pray all day, and they would still die. The idea of a "plan" makes the idea of a "prayer-answering relationship with God" ridiculous. There is nothing you can do to change the plan -- no amount of prayer will help -- because your death will have meaning and your death will cause side-effects that are also part of the plan.

Prayer is not only about requesting things from God. It is also about thanksgiving, praise, worship, sharing, and declaring our love to God.
God's will is supreme, because He is God. He does listen to our prayers, and sometimes changes His will. To attribute the holocaust as His "plan" is wrong. That wickedness and evil was devised by man and Satan.
He could have prevented it, just as He could prevent many of the evils that are in this world today. Doing that would interfere with our free will and justice against those who are wicked. We are responsible for the good and the bad that happens, not God.

Good point. I feel prayer is a form of introspection and we can learn a great deal about ourselves in how we pray/meditate. I think prayer extends itself in enery and can effect change in our mortal lives but is not a direct line to God.
