shy or arrogant, how do ya tell?

Depends on where you're seeing this person. If this is in grade-school, it's simply observing how he treats and thinks of others when around the people he hangs out with. If he is saying or doing rather mean things to others, it's blatant.
Outside of that, try taking a position on a topic he disagrees with, purposely giving a lousy reason for the position. As he attempts to prove you wrong, it would show how arrogant he is, especially if he makes a personal attack on you.

theres a thin line between the two cuz i mistook a wonderful guy for being arrogant...turns out he was just shy...
well u have to talk to him to know whther hes shy or arrogant... talk to him n if u feel hes throwing attitude then hes plain arrogant... n if he wait for u to talk to him all the time hes shy

being shy for most guys is being distant not saying much, he freezes up alot around females. arrogant is thinking that he is all that and a bag of chips, but he isn't.

look him in the eye if he look away he shy if he look back and just keeps on looking he arrogant!!
