The minimum age for children should be 7 years, as at this age they are able to function and understand what they are told to do However it is of vital importance that the Instructor is qualified in teaching children, as certain techniques taught toadults should not be taught to children, as it may cause grievous harm. Injury, and may even suppress growth in the child. There is no maximum age limit. In Okinawa, Japan, and some other countries, there are quite a few high ranking Sensei's or teachers who are in their eighties and nineties still teaching and training on a regular basis. There are many senior citizens who started training in their fifties and continue well beyond their seventies. Aside from learning how to defend themselves, women also can benefit greatly from learning Karate-do, as they are generally more flexible than their male counterparts, and stronger on their legs than their upper body, the kicking techniques of Karate-do come naturally to them.

Anyone, Martial Arts don't have any discriminations about who can or can't study them.

what I mean by that is, there aren't any Martial Arts that work for people with SPECIFIC PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS (height, weight, gender, race, age, body type, etc.)

The only thing about studying Martial Arts is researching what schools that're available to you, and finding out which discipline will work for you for your own personal benefit.
