Software never speeds up a computer. Removing it or changing your hardware does.

Take a look at some of your older programs and decide if you can do without some of them. (Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs) Also, the system tray/notification area (lower right of the taskbar) should have as few icons as possible. Get rid of media programs that insist on being there: open their preferences and clear "Show in System Tray" if you can find it.

Also, if you're a masochist like me, reinstalling the OS to bring the registry and installed programs back to a healthy size does wonders too without buying new parts.

first try to identify the problem -> then resolve it

1. Goto Start-> Run-> msconfig (press enter)
2. Under the general tab, Click the button 'Selective startup'
Uncheck the "Process SYSTEM.INI file'
Uncheck the "Process WIN.INI file'
Also uncheck "Load startup items"

Go to 'Services' tab and place a check mark on "Hide all Microsoft services" (this is available just above the OK botton in thelower part of the screen) (Dont look in the list of services.. it is just below that)

Now, click OK and restart ur computer..
Let me know if ur computer is faster??
we shall proceed with further steps.

**uninstall all the un necessary programs frm ur computer
(Control panel-> Add/Remove programs)

usually there are a few programs running that don't need to be and they slow things to a halt, some are realplayer, quicktime, instant messagers. If the programs have an option to NOT run at startup then don't run them. It takes less than a second to open a program, so these program are wasting memory running when you aren't using them. If there is no option that keeps the program from running at startup, try starter: http://codestuff.mirrorz.com/ and disable the stuff you don't use. also uninstall programs that you no longer use with this: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/myuninst.html after that, use this to clean temp files and junk: http://www.diskcleaner.nl/support.php finally defrag your hard disk with Power Defragmenter from http://www.excessive-software.tk/
