I'm a teen girl and sometimes when I feel my head is itchy, I scratch it, and underneath my nail is this yellowish-white of what seems like flakes. As I have dandruff, could it be the cause of this? Or might I have head lice? I have tried washing my hair thoroughly but after every wash, I feel it is still there. I'm worried as I seem to be having alot of this flakes on my scalp but it is difficult to remove. It only comes off when I scratch it then it will appear on my nail. What to do??

Try using a dandruff shampoo instead of a regular one, it will soon start clearing up.

The winter weather does not help a dry scalp. Try to refrain from scratching because little cuts in your scalp may make it worse. I would try neutorgena's medicated T-Gel shampoo. Try it for a couple weeks, if you do not seem to improve, see a dermatologist.

Good Luck!

DON'T use regular shampoo. Try using selsun blue, it is a dandruff shampoo. it worked for me, i have the same problem. it takes a few weeks, but it really helps. you can find them at your local Target store. good luck, it is really annoying huh? dont worry about it, EVERYBODY goes through this at least once in their lifetime. :-)

Have your parents pick up some delousing agent from the store. If you have lice your whole family should have lice.
