The pictures are all supposed to be connected in some way - tell a story I guess. My original idea was the power of words, and I was going to go to a protest and take pictures, but there weren't any protests over this weekend, and I have to have this done by Monday. One of my friends did food as her theme, and another went to a conservatory to take pictures.

I'm really at a loss right now. Anybody have any good, creative ideas?

I'm not sure if you would like to change your idea completely, but you could still use your original idea, but from a different perspective. Words are everywhere. Street signs, libraries, poems, adverstisements. You could set up some still lifes with common brand names, for instance Coca Cola. Now would you would is paint in red where there would normally be words. Just an idea. It's kinda unique. Do it it would widely familiar and identifiable brands. Or you could also rip the labels off. All cokes look the same if you rip off the labels.

I would recommend you a book that you should go find at a library. If you cant find it, its a handy book to buy and own. I would look at Half.com or Amazon.com, you can pick it up for about 20 dollars or so. The book is called 'Building Design Portfolios: Innovative Concepts for Presenting Your Work' by Sara Eisenman. I think its a great way for anybody to get 'inspired' when they are in a block. Best of luck!

given time constraints, how about documenting your room? or your house, neighborhood or anything mundane and everyday. i'm sure there are a lot of interesting shapes, patterns, lines that will make for a great photo essay. Its a great creative challenge to show everyday mundane things in a different light so that they stand out and become an art form.
