I prefer nvDVD or Nero Showtime for viewing DVDs on my computer. I don't know if you can dl nvDVD, it came on my BFG video card driver disc, but Nero Showtime should be available at nero's website at http://www.ahead.com

Windows Media Player 11
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx
(Built into Windows)
Pop in the dvd, you will most likely get a popup on screen giving you options how to handle the dvd, on that list, select "Play with media player".
Optionally, click the checkbox right there, and it will do that every time you pop in a dvd.

You may also need a DVD decoder. Just google for it and you'll definitely find one.
