there is nothing wrong with looking for a free puppy, we find ours for free, they are fed very well and are spoiled, why pay for one when you can get it for free.

i can not believe all the neg. comments over a free puppy, people can afford a puppy and still not take care of it,there is no way to judge people by how much they spend on a puppy. you guys need to grow up, by the way I'm sorry you've gotten so many bad comments.

Free puppies generally end up as training bait for lowlife people who are into dog fights.

Or as experiments in laboratories.

Both need free dogs.

I hope you are neither of those....

that said. If you can't afford a pet, you can't afford to feed or care for a pet.

Try starting a dog walking service.....you can earn some extra money....and spend some time with some dogs.....

If your mother wants a dog she will get a dog. She'll get the dog she wants. Although your intentions are sweet...it is never a good idea to surprise a person with a living animal. This is one of the reasons many dogs end up in shelters.

You would be getting the dog you like(or just got becasue it was free). Not the dog your Mom wants....

I agree with blade. If you can not afford to buy a puppy, you probably wouldn't be able to afford vet bills if it gets injured or sick. You can check the RSPCA in Newcastle. I checked on their website earlier today (even though I live in Vic) and they have some very cute dogs for sale. They are much cheaper than a puppy from a breeder and are in need of loving homes. And if you buy a senior dog, you get the dog for a much reduced price.

If you can't afford to buy a dog you won't be able to afford to keep a dog..

If you can afford a dog though try looking at shelters in your area.

Edit to add: Actually Michelle, in many cases responsible breeders are lucky to break even. The price of the puppies helps to offset the costs of health testing, veterinary care, stud fees, etc. You're right, there are some backyard breeders who are just in it for the money. But just because somebody is charging for a dog doesn't mean they are making any money.

Hello

I don't know whether there are any free ones, but this is a really good Australian dog classifieds site: http://www.whosyadoggy.com/australianewzealand/index.php

Remember that even if the puppy is free, the vet bills won't be! Make sure to save up some money and keep it aside for your pup's health care. :)

Good luck finding your new fluffy buddy...

I'm sorry but if you can't afford to buy a puppy, you probably can't afford to take proper care of that puppy if she were to get sick. Try saving your money and when they time is right you will find the one to give your heart to.
