Muslim *did* accept jews and protected them in the muslim Ottoman Empire for a thousand years while christians were murdering jews.
Muslim animosity began when jews backed by the US used terrorism instead of negotiation to found a state in Palestine.
Muslims in every country - including Osama bin Laden - have made it very clear: they will accept Israel's existence *IF* the Palestinians get the entire West Bank and Gaza Strip plus autonomy from Israel. Those who back Israel, however, don't have the balls to go along with something so reasonable. Ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians by the jews is permitted, encouraged and funded by the US.
THAT is basis of all anti-Israeli sentiment across muslim nations. Claiming anything else is a lie or ignorance.

Many Muslims feel that Israel is an illegitimate state created by already oppressive forces.
It would be like the forefathers of the U.S. telling Asians that they can have part of California because their people settled there over the land bridge thousands of years ago, and even though we (The US) had no legitimate right to the land, we are giving it away as if it were ours to do so.
the U.K. gave Israel to the Jews (with accordance to U.N. mandates). Neither group had the "birth rite" to such land, so how can you tell someone who's been living there for generations to leave because of some religious right?

Because ISRAEL will NOT recognize Palestine's right to exist!!!
Palestine has said several times that they would be happy to recognize Israel's right to exist only when ISRAEL will recogonize PALESTINES right to exist!!!
Israel says Palestinians have no rights and so the fighting goes on. It is largely the jews fault.

The answer is quite simple, the Qu'ran tells them that they cannot accept Israel. It says, and I quote :
"Take not a Jew, or the Children of the Book ( Christians ) as a friend. If there are those who deny Allah as god, and Muhammad as prophet, kill them."
Those are the words in the Qu'ran. This is the mandate that Muslims are to follow. If a Muslim does not follow what the Qu'ran says, they risk damnation. So for the world to think that there will ever be a lasting peace between Muslim and Jew is a pipe dream. It will not happen. If it did, the Muslims would have to abandon not only the Qu'ran, but their entire faith.
This commandment in the Qu'ran not only applies to Jews, but to Christians and non-Muslims as well. The goal of Islam is to make the world, Islamic. Those who do not convert to Islam are condemned to death.
