Christian are NOT bound by the 10 commandments?
More proof that I am right to NOT believe.

So it looks like this. Christians do not have to follow the 10 commandments because they are saved and Jesus will help them live good lives, and he will do everything they ask in his name. Thats why they pray all the time and refuse to accept responsibility for their actions.

No wonder Bush thinks he can get away with murder.
No wonder our planet is going down the toilet because the rules dont apply to christians, and they committ adultery, they murder anyone they dont like and they abuse their children and they tell lies all the time.

And yet christians have the gall to tell us they are going to heaven.
Christians are such hypocrites, they make me want to puke.

Morality is expensive on a personal level. To do what is right when faced with easier, more popular or more seductive alternatives is difficult for most people.

And lets not forget, to a lot of people religion is a support group or network where they get something for themselves. Whether it is to ease a guilty conscience or be predators in a group of prey, the motivation is often selfish and has little or nothing to do with the guiding principles or any other morality.

Also, have you ever read an older less modernized version of the ten commandments? What a load of crap! The morals that we all consider cornerstones are way down the list and is framed in the language of the period... slaves... wives as property?? If these are the words of the creator of all time and space, why are the words so specific to the time they were recorded?

If the ten commandments have been corrupted by the original writers, why would anyone put any faith in a single word of it? All of a sudden, L Ron Hubbard's drivel (Scientology) looks every bit as reasonable.

There are nearly 613 direct and indirect commands in the OT Mosaic Law apart from the 10 commandments. If you obey all and disobey the least of all, all your efforts to obey the Mosaic Law shall be in vain. There is no trying the level best; you must obey all of them to be considered or earn Righteous by the Law. The Lord Jesus by Grace to show us a way of Righteousness that comes apart from the Law by faith in his Death and Resurrection. If you have faith in Jesus, you are not bound by the 10 or tonnes of commandments of the OT. His grace is sufficient for us to live by faith. We do not disobey the Law but rather we fulfil the Law by faith in Jesus Christ with the power of the Holy Spirit. We the born again Christians live by the Spirit above the expectation of the Law. This is the Gospel of the New Testament.

Christians are not bound by the ten commandments, except insofar as they are bound to love one another, as revealed by St. Paul in his letter to the Romans, chapter 13, verses 9 and 10:

9 The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet,"[a] and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."[b] 10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

When one loves, one does not murder. When one loves, one does not steal, or covet. When one loves, one does not harm one's brother or sister or neighbor.

And then too, we have the words of Jesus, in the 22nd chapter of Matthew:

34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:

36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

We are not actually bound to the 10 Commandments, but rather to the principles that they represent. This was Jesus' continued message to the Pharisees throughout the gospels. They viewed things as legalistic, whereas the laws were given to the Israelites because they would best give structure to their society. Many of those laws seem absurd to us in our modern culture, but the principles behind them remain perfect, even if the laws themselves would not be by any means applicable today.

Yes, Christians are bound by the ten commandments: however, the flesh and spirit are weak and temptation is strong. Let's hope we have all of eternity to perfect ourselves. Christian's believe that Christ fulled that law. He said he was giving a new commandment, that we should love God and our neighbors as much as ourselves. I guess we don't love ourselves much, do we?

Jimmy,
The Old Laws are "for our learning" like a history lesson. We are told to live by the New Testament. It has come about as a result of the inspired writings for Christians. These are supposed to be for ALL Christians even though some do not feel they have to abide by anything that GOD inspired. Have a great Lord's Day.

Christians are informed to adhere to the 'regulation of Christ'. it is loving God, loving one's fellow believer with love like Jesus', and loving ones neighbour. for sure in case you fulfilled this it would contain some thing honestly moral and variety and honouring to God in the regulation and Prophets .. so we study New testomony lots and previous testomony also. yet obedience to a bunch of finicky guidelines isn't what saves us - Jesus has paid the cost, and brought the curse of failing to do the regulation (deuteronomy 28), and we want to stroll in like to receive our advantages. If one would not obey Christ's instructions you are able to finally end up straying, and probably many easily lose their faith (yet God on my own knows). yet it is throughout the Holy Spirit and is termed walking in love. for sure in practice many people christians are pleasing this quite poorly. yet Jesus suggested that would very a lot be the case in the myth of the Sower. the problem with basically pleasing lists of 'righteous behaviour' is people can get amazingly proud, and they tend to spotlight externals. Jesus love for us, gained through the Holy Spirit, is the actual aspect of what we are aiming at.

I'm not bound by 10 commandments. I just try to do the right thing. Religion is hiding the fact that there are hundreds of commandments.

Christians believe they don't have to obey the old testament laws because Jesus came and made the ultimate sacrifice, therefore negating any need for further sacrifice. They neglect to explain how that negates laws not pertaining to sacrifice such as dietary requirements and laws governing behavior, that christians don't follow because they are inconvenient.
