I had to stop watching TV about 8 years ago. Including Christian TV. The closer you get to God the more the world has to go.

It is impossible to watch TV while obeying the scripture that says to avoid the very appearance of evil.

"The media" is nothing but a tool. "Media" is the plural for "medium" and it refers to the various media used to communicate information. These media are newspapers, television and radio channels, as well as other documents, speeches, or anything by which information is disseminated through a technological medium. So "media" doesn't do anything other than transmit information.

It is the people who control various media that will help lead a person to or away from Christ. The media is just their tool.

It's the same as how a hammer is a tool. A hammer can be used to build a house or smash a window. In either case, however, it's not the hammer that's doint it, but the user of the hammer who is using the hammer to accomplish what he or she wants to accomplish, whether it's to build or destroy. The media is the same in that sense. It is a set of tools used by different people for different purposes.

It's a shame people are so ignorant these days as to think "the media" is an entity unto itself that can do things on its own. It's as stupid to think that as it is to think that hammers have minds of their own and that they go out and build and/or destroy things completely on their own with nobody operating them. Same exact concept.

Hope that helps you understand better.

although decades ago families watched media together and processed it together...today media is often more isolating as kids watch it by themselves and process the ideas without the help of parents or others. Family influence drops from number 1 to number 2 with Hollydazzel as number 1

The media couldn't cover up the story regarding pedophile clergy. People of all ages realized that God called these perverts to the priesthood and never intervened when thousands of children were being molested. People are not stupid although Christianity sometimes wishes that they were.

You mean like 'materialism' and 'do what thou wilt', and poor role models on TV and in Hollywood (when parents should be setting good examples themselves)?

Look for yourself.

I think TV evangelists had an awful lot to do with it. They give Christianity a greasy, greedy feeling.

Peace!

TV preachers. They give big "motivational" speeches, but never crack the bible open to let God speak, ever.
