Asking this question is like having a debate with Red Sox fans and New York Yankee fans over which team is better. No one really answers objectively, but based on opinions, feeling, and emotion. And as for the they're junk buy a Japanese or European car people, they are answering it in the same way. If you look at the report on customer complaints and initial satisfaction surveys, the playing field overall is fairly level. You can get a crappy Chevy, Ford, Japanese, or European. It all comes down to what experience you have had with those makes. For the record, I am a Chevy guy through and through. Never owned anything but the bowtie brand. Likewise I have a friend who is the same with Ford, another with Dodge and still another with Saab. All would tell you they are the best. Treat any car right, and it will be the best vehicle. Treat it like a rental and it'll be the worst ever.

Are we looking at a pick-up truck - Ford 150 takes the honors. Then what Mustang stands a chance against a Corvette? Every model can make either company's top-dog. Over the decades Chevy has their Impala as a basic sedan and Ford had their Galaxy - if this is the deciding model - most people will award the # 1 to Chevy.

Of the 2 Chevrolet has the best product. The Cavalier is one of their best selling products and has a reputation of being a solid reliable vehicle. No resale value mind you but it will serve you well while you own it.

I would still be working for them if the war had not broke out, along with all the UN-Americans that what the Honda or import! What can I say other than buy American ,, nobody understands what that means until they go through what I have! Yes , Ford makes great autos! along with Chevrolet!

both are really junk. amazing that American cars are of such poor quality. they are cheap though. Maybe they should improve on workmanship and charge more maybe double. Maybe they would not go out of business.
I have a 1998 Volvo s 90 with 118,000miles on it.
I recently took a trip and rented an Impala 2007 with 7,000miles on it.
My 9 year old Volvo with 118,000 miles on it drove much better than a brand new Chevrolet Impala. the Old Volvo has much more power get up and go with a much more solid drive.
in the long run the Volvo is the inexpensive car and the junk made in the USA. IS THE REAL EXPENSIVE ONE

FORD - fix or repair daily or its found on road dead while the driver returns on foot
CHEVROLET - i think it went, cracked heads every valve leaks and i dont remember the rest
it really depends on what you want the car for
ford makes tough trucks but their cars are a little better in their way
chevy makes some good cars but imports are WAY better
i have had better experiences with chevy

If you want something that is Found On Road Dead, then go with Ford.....otherwise get CHEVY!
In such extremes I would rather push a Chevy than drive a Fraud....I mean Ford.

Chevy has better engines, and probably a little more reliable. Ford is a much nicer car to drive. Better luxury, handling and body construction. So it's a trade-off. I would go with Ford if you don't mind occasional minor repair bills.

Between those two it would be Chevrolet as Ford's declining profits can verify.
