it is perhaps the fundamental flaw of the human race, the root of all evil

Religions are most definitely real but what may or may not be real is what they believe. I think as long as you are trying to be better than someone else on any level , we will never achieve harmony on this earth, so in essence to me religion does more harm than good. I think that even GOD would agree with me that it is time to change our focus. People can still worship any God without religion so it really is not necessary. Personally I think we should abolish all religion and create a man made state of human existence whereby all humans are expected to follow the same rules only then can we all be equal.

I am horrified by "conventional" religion.

My example:

I had lived in a house (that I owned with MY OWN money) for less than a month when two neighbors came to my front door.

I, of course, answered my door with "Hello."

What I was answered with was two young mothers who asked "Are you a SATANIST?!!"

As I breathed in I felt RAGE. HOW COULD THESE PEOPLE CONFRONT ME IN MY OWN HOUSE WITH THIS?!!!! I had meditated (fully clothed, thank you) three nights before in MY OWN BACK YARD. No drugs, no blood, no "altar," just candles any me.

As I Breathed out I felt HORROR! BY THE GODS! WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS (missing silverware, missing underwear, missing GameBoy games, missing DAUGHTERS!!!!!) I felt my blood grow cold: WOULD THESE UNINFORMED PEOPLE BLAME ME??!!!!

I took a very deep breath and smiled at the women who confronted me. I said quietly: "My religion is different than most, but I do not worship Satan."

Fortunately, one of the two women was a former Buddhist who actually understood Wiccanism.

But what if...?

I thought I lived in a country that not just tolerated but accepted other beliefs.

Am I wrong?

Must I and all other Wiccans/Pagans put my name on the list of folks moving to the moon in 2025? Would we be accepted even then?

Religion is man's way of trying to fill the void of the spirit that departed from Adam and Eve for their sin. Remember this, for it is key. Religion is man made, and a relationship with God is Divine. Lets not lose focus on the real truth, that from the begining of the creation of man, God has placed a wanting to worship Him and seek Him in our very soul. But all this has been destroyed because of our sin. Do not follow a religion, follow a relationship with Christ, for the Bible says ( I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father (GOD) except through me) "It is time for us to stop assuming about God and start acting on His behalf.

There are certain parts of religion that just SCREAM man-made, in my opinion. The best example I can think of is the whole idea that homosexuality is an "abomination". When I look at those words in the Bible, I don't imagine an all-powerful, all-knowing, supreme deity announcing that he cares about something as petty as a person's sexual orientation. Instead, I imagine a bunch of guys sitting around and deciding that they don't like gays, just like many people today don't like gays, and writing those words in there themselves. That explanation makes more sense, in my opinion. I can't imagine God caring about something as silly as whether people are gay or straight; to me, that's a complete giveaway that God, if he exists, had nothing to do with the writing of that book.

Religion is interpretation. I am not religious, but I was raised as LDS. I do believe in God, but I don't think that I'm going to hell if I drink coffee. I try to be a good and honest person. I think that is what is important.

Ever since I've found and better understood Christianity I've become happier and lighter. That's what really counts for me. They compete because they think their way of life is better. But then competing is pretty pointless.

Religion is a business. Faith in god may be real enough for most people. But organized religion is all that is wrong with this world. It has caused wars, death, destruction (like our current war) and given people a reason to be nasty to one another.

I don't believe there is a god. And if there were and he's like his believers say he is, I'd go elsewhere.

The truth is all religions were invented to control the people by using fear. All religions are wearing a different outfit but have that same purpose. The bible has been taken from its orginal context and trnsalted over and over agian. They set up many religions so that if you dont fall for one...then maybe you will fall for another. But they all do much the same...take your power away while you live in constant fear of not being enough.

Alot of us thin that the Bible is God's word. He did not write it, man did, and then the original good words were translated dozens of different times to stir fear into people... to gain control over them. Way back then the churches controlled countries, not politicians or corporations, and as you well know, the churches fought wars, and killed, and maimed, and defamed... but you trust their interpretation of "God's" word?

Do you really think that God is not big enough to UNDERSTAND and forgive even the most grievous sin? What would be the point in a human life? To see if certain individuals could pass certain litmus tests as to being dutiful? Then what the heck is God going to do with all the good ones? And why would he want a man who thinks poorly of himself and commits crimes throughout his brief life on earth, say 50 years... to be tortured for 50 trillion, or a zillion years in hell? Does the crime fit the punishment? Sounds like a very childish way to run a Universe!! Human parents are more tolerant than such a God. And I would imagine GOD to be a whole lot more understanding than human parents.

Here is a better idea to me: What if a reality was created by God, who made man in his likeness, given power and dominion over all, so that each and every man and woman could then learn of their own power and divinity...? And what if this God so loved his every child, those who tripped and stumbled, and did poorly in life... would then be lovingly embraced by this kind omniscient radiant forgiving Father and shown their true nature... and, if they so chose... they could live another life time, or as many as they wanted, or explore other realities, so that eventually ALL would enter the "Kingdom of Heaven"... by fully grasping the wonder and magic and unending miracles of life? Where no one was cast to hell... apart from perhaps living a miserably unhappy life on earth based on their mis-thinking.

What if there was only LOVE, only HEAVEN and only GOD... for those who chose to see life this way? Doesn't this sound divine? Of course most people don't see life like this... so guess who appeared to show a better way... Jesus... not the only son of God, but one of us who by right thinking not only taught, but lived the truth... giving him mastery over every limitation. He is a blessed being... showing us what life can be like... and by following his teachings... and the teachings of many other such enlightened souls, all can achieve the same... but by following this MAN, or by placing him higher than yourself, you destroy many of his messages and you begin worshipping an idol instead of the truths he taught.

Jesus loves you, and me, and every living soul... so does God... they do not judge, only love. It's we who judge.

I do not even like the word religion.

I believe that the Bible is true. I follow Jesus. I believe that He is the way and the truth and the life. I want to be with Him forever. : )

Did you know that RELIGION will send you to hell faster than anything. It don't matter about religion its just if you believe IN CHRIST JESUS and that he sent his only begotten son to die on the cross for our sins.
