You need to see the Dr and you could have gotten it from a person, not just animals carry the disease. So you, off to the Dr and your dog off to the vet (just to make sure, because the dog could get it from you too.)

not monostat, lotrimin AF. Ringworm is a fungus, and if the spots start as red spots and then "ring out" then you have it. The dog won't show any signs of having it. There isn't much you can do for the dog, but anywhere they sell a dewormer for dogs you can give it to the dog, won't hurt and might keep you from getting it again. use lotrimin for a week, twice a day. it will get rid of the fungus. And don't feel like it is gross, everybody gets ringworm every once in awhile.

You need to go to a doctor, preferably a dermatologist to diagnose it. (No Monistat will not help) He will in turn give you an ointment that you must apply to the affected area until its all gone. My son, husband and I got it when my son was younger from an infected barbershop. I suggest you apply the ointment about 1/2 inch outside the perimeter of the affected area. I only put it directly on top and the darn things kept moving around my skin until I did that, they seem to move below your skin. The hair on your leg will fall off that is another indication that you have it.
Good luck.

I worked for a vet clinic and it is very easy to tell if that is what you have. Go into a dark room and hold a black light up to the spots. If it glows you have ringworm. Ringworm is a fungus not an actual worm and that fungus is receptive to black light. You could have gotten ringworm from anywhere, not just from a dog. I hope this info helps. http://lbah.com/ringworm.htm

u usally get ringworm from skin to skin contact...they r round and usually itch like hell...no monistat doesn't work....it's tinactin that does...the same cream used for athlete's foot...because the fungi that causes ringworm and athlete's foot belong to the same family.
