Have you ever treated someone horribly or manipulated and lied to get what you wanted. Now looking back so you regret it?

Honestly, please.

I have BPD. We are not as horrible as the list of symptoms makes us look. Emotional instability for sure. Many people who have recently developed Borderline and don't know they have it yet will lose control of their emotions and freak out at people. It's "I hate you, don't leave me". It is a twisted way of avoiding rejection-you reject them first and then they can't reject you. I used to freak out at people a lot when I was first developing BPD. I am now in therapy, DBT, and I am learning skills on how to live. Basic living skills.

People with BPD are portrayed as horrible sociopaths a lot of the time. That is NOT TRUE. If you met me on the street, chances are you wouldn't know there was anything "wrong" with me. People at my job had no idea before I told them.

Please don't make such harsh judgements (referring to a comment, not the question),

So yes I have done things like that quite a while ago and I truly do regret it now. Luckily those people understood I was sick and have not completely left me.

I am bipolar, and yes, when I get manic, I can be very, very manipulative. I've lied to my parents and told them I needed money for one thing when I was going out spending it on things that I, well, no one really needs. If you realize tht you regret it, then there's room in yourself to change those habits. As silly as this may sound, I actually wrote on the back of my hand, "Your nose will grow" (referring to the character Pinocchio) to remind myself not to lie when I wanted to, or when I caught myself about to do it. When you stop lying and manipulating people, you'll find that your life is much more peaceful and you'll feel more at peace with yourself and feel more confident.

It will be interesting to see what responses you get from people with borderline disorders-- it is my experience that they don't regret their behaviours unless they are not able to get what they want, and then they will just step up the manipulation. I think we all do this at one time or another in our lives. But as a bi-polar person, I can say that the only time I ever did it successfully is when the other person was too weak to say no.

Absolutely! And, it was a bipolar woman who was the meanest cruelest person I had ever known.

No. That would be cruel. I am not born of that.
