You are dying.

The way your cat sees it, you're not scolding, you're threatening. In your cat's mind, when you point a finger it's like extending a paw to scratch - you are attacking her, and she WILL fight back. Cats are feisty little furballs.

Use harsh tone of voice and a quick spray from a water bottle if you have to scold her.

I think it's because she thinks she is the boss.
Does your cat ever stare at you and try to stare you out?
Keep the eye contact, show that your the boss in your house.
Cats and their owners can sometimes be a little bit like teenagers and their parents though. A cat will sometimes try to answer back!

She may think you are playing with her! You know cats will chase things that move and many cat "toys" are made like a stick. She is probably just trying to assert her dominance and most cats will nip at you even if you are just petting them. It is a way to show they care, just like moma cat to her kittens. Don't shake fingers when you are fussing, just raise your voice and say "NO", spray bottles work well for negative reinforcement.

if the cat is young it will do that. try keeping a spray bottle around and no need to yell. tell the cat no and then spray with water. after abut 5 or 6 times you will just have to say no and they will get the picture. my cat is now 6 and that is how i trained him.
good luck

This is one of the reason I ADORE cats!! They are not easily intimidated, independent, and quirky (like me lol) My daughter was visiting one day and hadn't really "bonded" with our youngest and newest cat (Little Baby..who thinks he king of the house) and she scolded him for some reason. He hissed and smacked at her with his paw.It was obvious that SHE was not the authority in HIS house (he never does that my husband and I, however...guess he knows we are bosses over him lol) Funnier yet he holds a grudge against her now...all over one scolding!! All my other four cats love my daughter but not Little Baby!!

Because she's either being playful or she thinks she has to defend herself. Or in my cats case she gets snotty when you scold her. My cat Bella gives me a weird look scrunching her face and hissing at me sometimes if I move her off the couch.

Well I would attack you too if you put your finger in my face, lol! Try just verbal commands, yes, no, etc. That is what they respond too.
