It means if you are using Yahoo Messenger then you can send them an Instant Message (IM). Download Yahoo Messenger, sign in with your nic and password and click on "contact" and "send an IM" and the IM box will come onto your screen, you type in the box and click "enter".

"IM". meaning "I"-nstant "M"-essaging. he/she is like asking you to send him/her a message or chat with him/her. chat or send her a message in, like yahoo messenger.
