Depends how fast you are going and how often you are doing sit ups. Remember that as you build muscle you will not necessarily be losing wight, since the new muscle weighs more than lost fat. Diet will also effect how long it takes for you to lose fat, sometimes as much as exercise. I don't know what kind of shape you are in but I am about 5' 5'' and wight around 115lbs. I gain wight (and lose inches, especially on my waist) during sports seasons.

Its always good to be active, really thats more important than the weight loss (also a plus :-)

A rough rule of thumb is that it take as long to lose weight as if took you to gain it. A lot of other factors matter too, like what you eat, how overweight you are. All things considered, if you are committed, eat properly, have 50 pounds to lose (i.e. you are not 140lb), you can do it in 3-6 months.

It depends on what you eat, how much you weigh already, your current muscle tone, how high your metabolism is, etc. If you're trying to lose weigh without gaining muscle weight, I'd say about a year...
