The average age for weaning in the "world" is 4 years old?! Geez...I'd rather they receive it by a bottle by that age, imo.

BF in public shouldnt be a huge deal. But just giving the whole world a lookies at your tit is stupid. we arent strippers here. Just feeding our kids.
And as for the average age .. most BF takes place in under developed or rural areas of the world. The milk is the best thing for that child and not something weird.

Can you believe it -- I have never *ONCE* in my 30 years on this planet seen another woman BFing in public! I find that really odd. Either I don't pay close enough attention or they are so discreet that I don't even notice. Of course, though, I would not mind in the least. It's a perfectly natural and beautiful act.
I myself, have nursed my daughter in public many times. But I always dressed in layers while we were out, so that I didn't show any skin. By wearing layers, it also kept me from having to use an annoying blanket as a cover up. I don't believe anyone even glanced in my direction at any point during these public nursing sessions due to my discretion.

I personally wouldn't want to eat a meal with a blanket over my head. As a breastfeeding mom in a very progressive town, I have once had someone offended by it. I told them not to look if it bothered them. Then at my conservative in-laws I just went ahead and covered up because I just didn't want to put energy into what a political issue breastfeeding can be. I think its great to see women who just whip it out because more people need to see it so that the breast, rather than the bottle, becomes the cultural norm for the feeding of infants.

I plan on breastfeeding and I think it is ok in public as long as a woman is tasteful about it. I personally will most likely never breastfeed in public, I would rather pump and put it in a bottle but that is just me.

No, I get bothered by an entire nation that is so uptight that can't deal with a body part being used for what it IS for.
It is unbelievable to me that in "the most advanced nation" in the world, we freak out over a boob. The formula companies and "I'm a victim" woman's movement have ruined it for our kids.
The world's average age for weaning is nearly 4 years old, in the US breastfeeding is looked down on.
No wonder our kids are so sick and have developmental problems. Breastmilk is best and formula is not a "replacement".

I don't have a problem with it at all if the woman is discreet. However, I did have a problem a few years ago with a woman at a mall who sat down on a bench next to my 4 year old son and I and proceeded to open her shirt and just plop her boob out in plain sight. Maybe I'm uptight, but I have a problem with a grown women exposing her breasts to my four year old. I flipped out and called security and demanded they call the police. To make a long story short, we were both asked to leave the mall, although security pulled me aside and apologized to me and told me if they had just asked her to leave they would be sued.
So anyways, if you pull your **** out in front of my kid, you better hope there's a baby attached to one of them.

no it doesn't bother me cause a blanket doesn't always work when they start pulling it of of them. If a baby is hungry it has to eat. it is natural. it bothers me more when a mom is feeding there baby formula I think that is selfish.

i think breast feeding is 100% ok. i also think that a woman should use wisdom while doing it. like by useing a lil blankie to cover up their boob while they do it. even though it is a natural and perfectly ok thing to do does not mean everyone wants to see the womans boobs. just like me having sex with my husband is 100% ok does not mean im going to sit at a walmart bench and just go at it with him cause its a natural and ok thing to do between him and i. people dont want to see that. ok ok ok some might! lol just playen lol
but really, if i was at home by my self or with my mom or close friend, showing my boobs would be ok cause its a girl thing. but for me.... wipping out my boob for the world to see cause im feeding my baby is kinda rude. i would have a lil blankie to cover up my chest with while i feed my baby. just to be kinda descrete and respectful to others
