There is a little booklet with your TV, called User Guide or User Manual. It has lots of pictures and useful info.

You are not telling us what cables you are using, but this should work. Connect the red/white audio out cables from the dvd player to the red/white audio input cable to your TV. Video and Audio cables need to connected to the same SET Iinput1 or Input 2, etc.). Using your TV remote, click Source or Input and select the input where you connected the DVD player. You should see some video from the player and hopefully you will get some sound.

Don't forget to setup the DVD player now to 16:9 output!

It seems that you have the right cables. The monster triple cable should have red, blue, green plugs. If you get a picture, that is connected ok. Sound cables usually have red and white plugs, so I don't know what the blue/red cables you referred to are, but they will work for sound. I suspect that perhaps your DVD player is not set up for analog sound output. Make sure that the video triple cable and the audio double cable are connected to the same external input port on your TV.

I'm going to assume you have cable TV with a cable box. If you do, I think you need an audio cable ( 2 male connectors on each end-red & white). Hook one end to the "right & left" audio out on the cable box to the audio -in on the DVD player. If you don't have a cable box, run the audio cable from " audio-out" on the TV to the " audio-in" on the DVD player. I hope this helps. Oh yes, if you have home theatre surround system & cable box, run the audio cable from audio out on cable box to audio in on your receiver.
