I'd recommend checking out the American Miss and America's Royale Miss pageant systems for systems with good ethics. Avoid Royalty Miss like the PLAGUE.

There are books, but each pageant system has its own ins and outs. For the most part, what I recommend is before having your sis enter a pageant, go to at least one preliminary local pageant for your chosen system (bring your sister!), get a feel for what sort of clothing is appropriate (hint: black is NEVER a good color), pay attention to the runway modeling, talk to the director after the pageant and on the phone - she is there to HELP you, she WANTS you to be as successful as possible, because if you are successful you RETURN and that means you pay entry fees.

My daughter competed in pageants for a few years. If you want some more advice, click my profile and email me.

There isn't a book about pageants. You pick up things from research. Some pageants let you wear maekup as early as you want (glitz pageants) others have rules such as under 12 (non-glitz). Every pageant is different. You should check the rules.

DRESSES
You should have short dresses for gitlz like these:

Long dresses like theses for non-glitz:

Here are some tips to get ready:

Keep up with current events
Workout
Practice interviewing
Practice talent
Practice stance and walking in heels
Practice personal introduction, speeches, etc

Fill out your resume
Make sure pictures are ready
Make sure all your payments are made
Make sure outfits are ready
Make sure you have all your accessories: shoes, jewelry, purse, makeup, etc.

You can also hire a pageant coach.

Sample interview questions:

Some pagenats have optional contest such as talent, pro-am (glitz), photogenic, casual wear/sportwear, etc.

There are a lot of different terms. Here are some:

I have a pageant checklist for when you have to compete you do not for get anything. You can just email me. You can also email me if you have any other questions such as outfits or which pageant to do, I will be glad to help.

There is so much about pageants. Just do some research.

Good luck!!!

a solid decision on your funds would be a single ringneck dove in the journey that your sister (and you or your mum and dad via fact your sister is basically 8 and would't be predicted to be completely to blame) is prepared to spend sufficient time with it every day. single doves could be easily hand tamed. a pair won't oftentimes be as tame. in the journey that your funds is $2 hundred or much less then a hand raised cockatiel plus cage and upload-ons is going to be out of your funds. so some distance as breeding they do no longer choose a particular easy however the do choose easy. Birds tell breeding season via the quantity of daylight hours they get each and every day. in the event that they are no longer getting daylight hours then they gained't breed.

From what I have heard, it is pretty costly. If your family can support this idea and has the funds to keep your sister involved, it is a possibility that it would work. If you go to the library they probably have info on it. The other thing is, that you would not want your sister exposing herself to bad influences. Some things are not all they are cracked up to be.

BEST ANSWER IS CASSANDRA'S

Cassandra has is right on. You should want more from your girls then just their looks. Have them make it with their brains FIRST, the good looks should be the icing, not the cake. I wouldn't allow any of my daughters into a pageant, at any age.

I think you guys should exercise some responsibility and not allow her to enter such a shallow and stupid and ridiculous environment.

She should be running, jumping, reading, getting powerful in her body and mind. The very worst thing to do to her is to make her self-conscious about her looks and presentation.

How on earth does one even end up with a child having such shallow and pathetic goals? really - try to save your sister with some real interests that will be life enhancing.

I personally believe that child beauty pagents are a cancer that needs to be destoryed. I would never allow my child to participate in them. They do nothing but lead to un-nessisary body issue problems.

I don't know...personally I would not want/let a little girl do that stuff...maybe my preconceived prejudices against it....just seems weird to me...and a lot of other people...I'd steer my daughter away from it for sure...dance or piano or something.
