There is probably only one other scenario which could be worse - being ditched by the love of your life. Your feelings of self worth and confidence have really been hit hard and you know that nothing can ever be the same again. In saying this, I know I haven't made you feel any better.

In both scenarios you know that there is a fork in the road and you have to make a life decision, you know, one of those really big decisions that have serious ramifications. You have to feel certain that the road not taken wasn't after all, the way you should have gone.

You have a choice here : stay with your occupation and join another company or change your occupation altogether. You know your particular situation better than I will ever know so this is a decision that you must make and must make soon.

It's time to sit down with a pen and paper and write stuff that is calm and detached from the feelings you are going through at the moment. I would suggest you start from the positive and then work your way to the negative and to be as honest as you have ever been in your life. After all, it's pretty easy to lie to yourself. We all do it all the time. Begin with writing down three of what you feel are your best traits, abilities etc. ,write down briefly an actual example when you displayed that trait. Then, write down three occupations which you think this trait would be essential or very useful. Then tick which of these occupations that you would like to do. e.g. I am a good listener - When my friends have a problem, I listen closely and if I can help or advise, I do so. Three occupations I get from this are : social work, guidance office and teacher. (Maybe you would select different ones.) Tick the one you would like to do regardless of work conditions, salary etc. Those kind of decisions can come later. We just want to keep it as simple as possible.

Now reverse would you have done by selecting three traits, abilities etc. that you feel you don't possess, e.g. Filing is the dumbest thing I could ever do - when I had to cross reference all that stuff, I wasn't sure if I would die from boredom or frustration. Three jobs here might be : office worker, archivist, librarian. Now tick the one you would hate the most - if possible.

What you are doing here is an assessment of yourself, your strengths and weaknesses to assist you in deciding if you have found the right kind of work. If you have, then the company was wrong for you, ( it's ethos, management style, work conditions etc.) If you haven't, move on. Life is too short to waste on work you find menial and unrewarding.

It's not easy, especially if you feel that it is something that you had no control over or that you were not well liked or whatever the case may be. You have to move on. As hard as it is try not to dwell on it and keep in mind, you will probably find a job that you like much better anyway. You may look back and realize that job was not good for you to begin with
Everything happens for a reason

Sorry to hear it-must be difficult. Just realize that there are lots of opportunites out there, and remember that when one door closes, another opens. Whatever the reason was, you can probably say to yourself that you have helped the company, and try to do things that you enjoy to forget about it. Hope this helps!

you have a few months, so start looking for a new job now. sh*t happens, but at least you have a head start, and are still working.
