What does oxycontin feel like when you take it?

Does it make you sleepy or what does it do?

It is a pain medicine so it relieves pain. It can make some people sleepy or feel "loopy" but normally it just relieves the pain for most people.

I've never taken Oxycontin, but taken Vicodin and Percocet, which are in the same class, but not as strong. They are all narcotics and do cause drowsiness, as well as relieve pain, also cause naseau, sluggishness and euphoria (which is the reason people get addicted to them...the feeling of euphoria). They are opiates that trigger the opiate receptors in the brain and flood the body with endorphins (I think that's what they are...or is it dopamine, or both)....after a while of taking them, the opiate receptors in the brain start to tolerate the amount and require more and more in order to release the same amount of endorphins and cause euphoria. So people take more to feel the initial "high" and that's when addiction starts. It's best not to know that "feeling" and never start in the first place. It's not worth it.

Depending on it's milligrams or dose it could kill you if it's not prescribed to you the doctor knows your body weight and it is a pain killer, and it is very addictive. People kill for it and rob and break into drug stores and go to prison for years because of it's addiction. So be smart and leave it alone. Flush it down the toilet, and or put it back where you got it. Your asking for a life of hell playing around with drugs. Doing drugs you go to jail, hospital, or mental institutions, or the grave yard. And then What about the people that love you? Some end up dying of a heart ache from the loss of a child or a loved one.

I was prescribed oxycontin after getting severely injured. It separates pain from your body only a bit. It makes it a bit more manageable. It can make you tired, slow your reaction time considerably, and make you constipated. You lose your appetite and your only appetite is for more oxycontin.
As for just taking it for shits and giggles, you are really and truly stupid. Grow a brain and find something else to do.

it binds me up and just barely takes the edge off pain. I never felt any euphoric feelings and take it only for great pain. I am supposed to take it more often than I do. I will always be in pain but I don't like be bound up.

I think it's kinda fun... It made me completely stupid and I really wanted to go for a walk. I only got a far as the end of the driveway before I just sat down and watched the headlights. The only weird thing was the itching - I wanted to scratch my own skin off.

I have been given that by doctors before but never even filled the Rx......I work for a doctor and have seen too many addictions to even want to try it even when prescribed for me.....just don't want to take that risk.....so sorry can't help on the feeling just wanted to give you some info on it......it is addictive
Life has its up and downs as it is without adding addictions to it too

it's for pain, it just numbs you up, great if you're in major pain, but it binds you up (i'm Not kidding) sometimes you have to think, am i in enough pain to bother with that a few days later
