Or did He just say "Poof! Your pregnant!"

Just curious, I was on the phone with my brother today and somehow the subject came up...

"And the angel said to her [Mary], The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore, the holy child to be born shall be called Son of God" (Luke 1,35).
The sacred books spoke of a cloud or shadow filling the temple (1 Kings 8,10) as a sign of the divine presence over the holy city. By using this image the gospel conveys that Mary becomes God's dwelling place through whom he works out his mysteries.
Have a great day!

Funny,i always knew but it was only about 6 months ago i realised it while reading a childrens picture book.

First off Our Lord was not "put" there.
second Our Lady was perfect and remained that way(sure to upset some)
Third,begot not made.

When we recieve communion at mass we say Amen,"i do"
Theres a new thing at mass, when some people recieve communion they no longer have the priest place the Host on the tongue but instead receive the Host into their hands and then put the host into their own mouth(which is wrong)..
See the difference in acceptence of the Word?

Marys acceptance the news was all that was needed,God didnt put anything there.

I think God knows more about science and biology then anyone ever will. I think there are probably ways He could bring two cells together to create life without the need for sex. All it takes it to alter one set of chromesomes just a little, and you have the male side. I think God could do it without the need for sex. It states that the Holy Spirit came upon her and then she was pregnant. I think the Holy Spirit probably helped with the biological changes that would have to happen for her to get pregnant, but I don't think it would have to be by an sort of sexual act. As the scriptures say, With God, nothing is impossible.

Absolutely NOT! God didn't need to have physical sex to cause JESUS to be born. HE spoke the universe into existence do you really think HE would need to have sex to make a baby?
I understand that you only asked this question to try to be cute but really I think you can do better than to use GOD, JESUS or Mary to make a joke. If not maybe you should consider another line of entertainment.

Not cute or funny. Have you ever seen it credibly written that such a thing happened. Don't disgrace yourself like that.

If you're looking for a laugh, surely you can be more resourceful.

Read your bible if you want the truth. Matthew 1:14-25 may enlighten you.

God Bless You!

Okay -> in Catholic beliefs (which are the only ones i know about) -> Mary is considered the "Virgin Mother." Which would imply that God basically said "Poof you're pregnant"

Ummm... no. That's why she's called the "Virgin Mary". I don't know about all of that. If I came home claiming god knocked me up I think my husband and I might have some problems.

Me thinks... no. Kinda like asking if Adam did the deed with god to make eve... I don't think it works that way... but I wasn't there, so I really can't answer your question 100% accurately.

It is written that Jesus was born of a virgin, conceived of the Holy Spirit.

So, she was a virgin when she gave birth also.
